Oasis in Concrete Desert

After we grow up, our school and colleges are the treasure trove of soothing memories that provide us a respite. My place of education was quite literally the place for quick respite. The city of my education is known to be one of the most hot and humid places in the country. And yet, even in peak summer, when nothing seems to shade us from the relentless heat, the campus was an oasis, at least 2 degrees cooler than the outside world. The only difference I could figure out over the years is lots of trees and lakes inside the campus.

Not all of us can afford air conditioning. And with constantly depleting natural resources, who knows how long even the rest of us will be able to afford it!! How are we going to escape from the rising temperatures if we continue to destroy our oasis at this speed?
