Plastic Bottles

Nature and humans are meant to coexist. On this occasion of World Earth Day, for the next 3 days, we will share with you 3 simple changes we have made in our lives to contribute towards a safe future of human life on planet earth.

Change #1- Replace plastic bottles with metal bottles

Studies say that about a million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute and the number is increasing steeply every year. Only a small percentage of this is recycled, rest of the plastic bottles end up in landfills or oceans. Between 5 million and 13 million tonnes of plastic leaks into the world’s oceans each year to be ingested by sea birds, fish and other organisms. This does not just kill the birds, fishes and animals but is also finding its way back to human food chain. Just think, we are digesting tiny pieces of plastic through seafood and other food items.

An average human being uses about 70 single use plastic bottles in a year. So we decided to stop using single use plastic bottles. We carry our own bottles everywhere we go, even when we travel. The saving of 70 plastic bottles a year may not sound significant enough. But if 100 of us start following this, we save the planet 7000 plastic bottles a year. As more of us start making this change, over time, this will amount to a significant change.

And this is also in line with our culture, our tradition. Aren't we told to have water from copper vessels to improve our health? This way we will not just help save the planet but be more health conscious as well.
